Rajma chawal is a simple yet delicious meal. Rajma is rich and iron and protein when it is combined with rice it is a great source of carbohydrates. Rajma Chawal is a popular North Indian dish, it is basically rajma curry(red kidney bean) mixed with steamed rice.
Ingredients:
    Rajma/red kidney beans -2 cups
    2 nos of onions- chopped
    1/2 cup of onion paste
    2 nos of tomatoes- chopped
    1/2 cup of tomato puree
    Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
    Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
    Chilli powder – 1tsp
    Cumin powder – 1 tsp
    Garam masala powder -1tsp
    cumin powder 1 tsp
    Refined oil- 3-4 tsp
    Salt to taste
    fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Method:
    Wash and soak rajma in water overnight.(add a pinch of baking soda at the time of soaking)
    Drain and pressure cook rajma with water adding salt till they becomes soft. Strain the boiled rajma and keep the water separetly.
    Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onion, onion paste, ginger garlic paste and fry them till becomes golden brown.
    Now it’s time to add chopped tomato, tomato puree , turmeric powder, red chilly powder, cumin powder, salt (as requirement) and cook till the oil separates.
    Now add boiled rajma in the masala adding garam masala. Mix them well and cook for 10-15 minutes on low flame (adding water which we have stored separetly after straining the boiled Rajma.)
    Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
    Serve it with steamed rice.
