A very nice and simple Assamese Recipe. Kothal gutir logot Kasu Tharir anja. Colocasia stem cooked with jack-fruit seeds.

Ingredients:
    Edible Colocasia stems 2 medium size, peel off the outer thin skin, wash and cut into small pieces
    1 cup, peeled washed jack fruit seeds ( cut them into two pieces )
    2 onions chopped
    1 tomato (chopped)
    1 tsp. of ginger garlic paste
    1 tbsp. of mustard Oil
    Salt to taste
    1 tsp of Turmeric powder
    1 tsp cumin powder
    1tsp mustard paste
    2-3 chillies
    1/2 tsp black pepper crushed

Directions:
    In a pan add mustard oil
    Add chili, garlic ginger paste and chopped onion…
    When the mixture turns light brown add tomato pieces, turmeric powder, cumin powder and salt. Mix well and cook them till tomatoes become pulpy
    Now add pieces of colocasia stem and jack-fruit seed
    Cover cook them for about 10 minutes;
    Now add mustard paste, black pepper and 1 cup of water and let it cook for 10 minutes or till seeds become tender.
    Serve it with steamed rice.
