The Directorate of Archaeology,and the Competent Authority, Assam, under the National Monument Authority of Archaeological Survey of India being notified by the Gazette of India has begun to implement the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2010,in the State of Assam from December, 2010. The Archaeological Survey of India, Government of India, has sanctioned supporting staff for functioning of Office of the Competent Authority, Assam, The Director of Archaeology and the Competent Authority Assam. Meanwhile, the work of Competent Authority under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2010 began from the Office of the Directorate of Archaeology Assam,Ambari, Guwahati,Assam.Correspondence with all the Deputy Commissioners and the Chairman , Municipal Boards of Assam, not to give permission for new constructions within the Protected and Prohibited and Regulated area of the Centrally Protected Monuments located in the State of Assam.The list of the Centrally protected monuments could be viewed in Monument Menu. .
