Orissa is famous for its Rath Yatra in Puri, held every year. This festival is held to commemorate Lord Jagannath, who is said to have been the incarnation of India’s revered deities, Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna.

In this festival, a ride or Yatra of three God is carried out. On this occasion, the decorated chariot of the 3 deities is pulled to Gundicha temple, situated 2km away from Jagannath temple. And, they are brought back on the 9th day. In the year 2011, this Yatra will be from 3rd July to 12th July.
