Assam Government developed Botanical Garden at the old jail premises in Guwahati’s Fancy Bazar area. The Botanical Garden at Fancy Bazar is built at a cost of Rs 58 crore covering an area of 11.7 acre. The garden will remain open from 10 AM to 10 PM every day.Wednesday is holiday.
Features of the Botanical Garden are:
1.Open green spaces of 11.77 acres with 2.58 acres of water bodies.
2.Over 85,000 plants, trees, shrubs, bonsai, etc.
3.Arboretum of 2.08 acres
4.Lotus pond, temple etc
5.2.5 km-jogging track, garden, children park, yoga corner and jail memorial.
The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) fixed the ticket prices for entry to the botanical garden as bellow
1.Children aged 0-3: Free
2.Children aged 3-10: Rs 20
3.People aged 10-75: Rs 50
4.People aged 75 and above: Free
5.Specially-abled individuals: Free
6.Morning Walk from 5 AM to 8 AM for only registered person: Free
7.Camera (normal): Rs 100
8.Video Camera: Rs 3000
