Asom Sahitya Sabha, the highest literary organisation of the North Eastern Region was established far back in 1917. It has been playing a pivotal role in the domain of Art, Culture and Literature during the last nine decades. Presently it has about one thousand branches all over Assam and its neighboring state. Its Central office is at Jorhat a city of historical importance. The Asam Sahitya Sabha was constituted with an aim to develop and enrich the assamese language and literature, and to bring all the indigenous languages under one umbrella. The 72nd Biennial Session of this Sabha will be held on 31st January, 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th February of 2013 at Biswaratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Kshetra, Barpeta Road, an administrative circle of Barpeta District of Assam.
