Now all new teacher in Assam will be appointed in govt. and private schools after pass Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) exam. All candidates have to take TET exam before joining of teacher. Only pass candidates in TET exam would be eligible for teacher in govt. and private school.
This is compulsory for private school also. If any private school appoint any teacher without TET pass then school’s affiliations from any board will be canceled. The old teachers of Govt. and private school do not need to pass TET exam for continue their job. They will be considered as TET pass candidate if they change their school.
TET Syllabus 2021
Government of Assam, invited on-line applications for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)- 2021 for Lower Primary and Upper Primary level for the state of Assam as per the guidelines laid down by NCTE.
Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria of a candidate to appear in TET are as follows:
A.Candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
B.Candidate must have minimum academic and professional qualification as per NCTE norms as follows: ‘
Minimum Qualification for appearing in Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V)
a)Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
OR
Graduation and two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)obtained from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in class I to V, provided the person so appointed as teacher will have to mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as primary teacher.
Minimum Qualification for appearing in Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII)
a)Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
At least 50% marks either in Graduation or in Post Graduation and B. Ed
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B. Sc. Ed. Or B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B. Ed.(Special Education)
Note: Minimum percentage of marks in graduation shall not be applicable to those incumbents who had already taken admission to the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education or equivalent course prior to the 29™ July, 2011.
However, a person who is pursuing and having Admit Card of final year Examination of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Guideline dated 11″ February, 2011, may also apply for TET. However he/she can apply for appointment only after acquiring all the required qualification.

i.Child Development & Pedagogy : 30 MCQs- 30 Marks
ii.Language I — Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Bodo,Manipuri, Garo, Karbi, Hmar: 30 MCQs- 30 Marks
iii.Language II — English: 30 MCQs- 30 Marks
iv.Mathematics: 30 MCQs – 30 Marks
v.Environmental Studies:30 MCQs- 30 Marks
Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Upper Primary level (classes VI to VIII).
Paper II -Mathematics & Science or Paper II- Social Science (Studies) (for class Vi to Vill):
i.Child Dévelopment & Pedagogy (compulsory): 30 MCQs- 30 Marks
ii.Language I— Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Bodo,
Manipuri, Garo, Karbi, Hmar (compulsory-any): 30 MCQs- 30 Marks
iii.Language II —English (compulsory): 30 MCQs- 30 Marks
iv.(a)For Mathematics and Science teacher : Mathematics and Science :60 MCQs 60 Marks or

Minimum Marks for qualifying in TET: A candidate is required to score 60 % i.e. 90 marks out of 150 to qualify the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). However, for SC/ST (Hills)/ST(Plain/OBC/MOBC/PWD (PH), there will be relaxation of 5 %. Thus, for these candidates, qualifying marks will be 83 out of 150 i.e. 55 %.
