Shrimanta Shankar Academy (SSA) is a registered service organization, set up in 1992 to play a noble role for making significant contributions for social upliftment through higher education and to inculcate among the youth a sense of discipline which is important to mould them into capable citizens. The watch word of the Society is ‘Truth, Discipline & Excellence.’ Ever since its inception, the Society has been single mindedly aiming at providing a morally sound educational system which not only produces competent professionals but also excellent human beings who would contribute towards the welfare of the society and help in raising the quality of life of its people.
The Society has been growing from strength to strength since its inception. Observing the huge gap in need and facilities available in the remote north eastern part of the country, “Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT)” was established in the year 2006 with a vision to produce competent, disciplined and quality engineers and administrators having the drive, skill and confidence to become the pioneers of tomorrow. In fact, it is the first Institute offering degree level technical course in the State in the non – government sector. The college is established with prior permission from the State Govt. and approval from the AICTE, New Delhi and is affiliated to Gauhati University.
GIMT is best known for its undergraduate program i.e. the Bachelor of Engineering program. It also offers postgraduate level programs like Master of Business Administration and Master of Computer Application. The admission criteria for all these programs is different at the entry level.
Undergraduate Programs
GIMT offers 4 years Bachelor of Engineering course in 6 different major areas that include Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. The admission to this program is done through Common Entrance Exam (CEE) and All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) organised by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) respectively.
Post-Graduate Programs
GIMT offers postgraduate programs in Master of Business Administration (2 years) and Master of Computer Application (3 years). The admission to these programs is done through the entrance examination conducted by Gauhati University and other equivalent entrance examinations.
